Gorgeous ethical sapphires for spring

I've made quite a few sea glass triple rings since the first one I made for Fran last year. Details of these can be found in an earlier blog post.

Since then, I've also been so looking forward to making one of these popular Glasswing triple rings with these beautiful ethical sapphires from Malawi, and then lo and behold, two lovely engagement ring commissions come along at once!

The first (above) is an a very low setting 3mm light teal ethical sapphire with two sweet sparkly recycled diamonds either side, set in 14ct recycled white gold on a recycled silver forged band. Low settings are great if you are active, or work in an environment where you don't want your ring getting caught in clothing or any creative work, or potentially catching on other people (like a caring or teaching environment for instance).

These little sapphires are such a gorgeous subtle colour, they remind me of the ocean, (and sea glass funnily enough!)  I can't get enough of them!

The second commission was Katy's beautiful triple engagement ring with a trio of larger stones (those are recycled white diamonds either side)... all set in lusciously rich, eco friendly recycled 14ct yellow gold which contrasted really nicely with the slightly deeper teal of the central sapphire. The Malawi ethical sapphire which is a 5mm round brilliant cut stone, with astonishing clarity and sparkle. It's on a recycled 14ct white gold, organic texture hammered band which tapers gently towards the settings.

Katy's delight was wonderful to read when she emailed me from Denmark where she lives ...."I have it!! Thank you so much it is so beautiful :-) exactly what I wanted, wow. I can't stop staring at it!"

Beautiful Ethical Sapphire Engagement ring with a low Setting

A lot of my customers ask me about the height of the setting and stone on my rings, especially if they are sporty, in a caring profession or enjoy gardening and are worried about either knocking the stone, losing it or possibly getting it caught in clothes.

Ethically sourced Sapphire and white gold engagement ring by Glasswing Jewellery

This engagement ring is an example of a very low setting with a beautiful ethically sourced mid-blue sapphire from the fabulous company Fairtrade Gems in Hatton garden, which I made for a customer recently.

It is created from smooth ethical 9ct white gold, which has been left un-plated (it is available in different golds, unplated or rhodium plated if requested) and it really is a lovely low profile ideal if you have any concerns about the stone on your ring protuding too much.

The couple are so happy (and of course she said yes!) that they have just come back to me to make their wedding rings too!

Aquamarine sea glass and white gold engagement ring

One of my favourite rings I've made this spring season is this simple yet stunning pale aquamarine sea glass ring I made for a lovely couple living here in Devon. I used the customer's own sea glass which he sent to me, had found it on the beach where the two of them had spent one of their first romantic dates together.

I cut, shaped and set his lovely pale sea glass in 14ct recycled white gold. I think it made a truly one-off engagement ring with impeccable eco credentials.

If you have a special piece of sea glass you'd like made into a unique piece of jewellery you can always contact me through my website where you can see other designs I have made, and find out ways to commission me to make a unique piece of jewellery for your own special occasion.

I don't just make engagment rings, I've used customer's sea glass finds, for special necklaces and earrings for events like birthday, anniversaries, to celebrate bridesmaids, best friends and Mother's Day  - any excuse to spoil someone in your life who loves sea glass and the ocean! 🌊

Hand forged white and yellow gold diamond solitaire.

Beautiful 0.3ct recycled GIA certified diamond glinting in the autumn sun (when we had some last week!)

This simple solitaire with a lightly hammered finish has been a firm favourite with brides looking for an ethical, eco-conscious engagement ring this year.

A stunning stone, set in a closed, rubover recycled 14ct yellow gold bezel, on a recycled 14ct white gold hand forged shank.

It is available in a range of colour combos, like rose gold, all yellow gold, a mixture of white / yellow / rose and in 9, 14 or 18ct golds - all recycled, or if preferred, FAIRTRADE gold.

The diamond can be replaced with a coloured ethically sourced gemstone - details of the different gems I can source are on my website.
